Book Distributions

At the heart of Biblionef’s mission is our free Book Distribution Programme; a cornerstone initiative that brings the power of reading directly to beneficiary primary schools and organisations with active reading programmes.

Through a simple online application process, schools and community organisations request book donations that are carefully assessed to match their unique needs. We consider factors such as the children’s home languages, the number of learners, and the existence of an active reading strategy. While having a school library is not a requirement, we encourage schools to nurture classroom libraries to further support literacy development.

Every donation is thoughtfully curated: we only distribute unused books, ensuring that 60% are in the children’s home language(s) and 40% are in English. This balanced approach guarantees that all children can access culturally relevant books in a language they understand.

In addition to books, beneficiary schools and educators gain access to our comprehensive online resources (featuring an Activity Booklet and video lessons for Grades 1, 2, and 3) that help integrate these storybooks into their lesson plans, guided by the CAPS. Please refer to the tab labelled Teacher Resources to explore this further.

To maintain the programme’s impact, recipient schools and organisations are required to submit a report on their book usage after six months of receiving their books. This process not only ensures accountability but also allows for further book distributions based on demonstrated, effective usage.
